VNA & Blue Water Hospice leadership honors staff & volunteers quarterly through the ‘Shining Star’ program, recognizing the extras they do for each other, their patients, and the community.
Claudia has been a volunteer at VNABWH since 2022. She crochets holiday décor for patients and staff to enjoy. She is also a patient companion – someone who sits with patients, talking, listening, or simply sitting with them. As a volunteer, Claudia could choose any organization to share her time and talents, however, she chose VNABWH. She says “Over the years, I’ve had several family members go through hospice, and I believe in what the organization does. I am not a nurse, but I am a good listener. I feel like I can contribute in that manner, and I enjoy sitting with patients. I also enjoy using my crocheting to surprise our patients during the holidays with an extra treat.”
Heidi recognized Claudia as a Shining Star!
“Claudia donates her talent of crocheting to our patients every holiday. She has created a small gift that comes with candy treats for every patient with a holiday theme. This brings such joy and smiles to our patients and their families. Thank you, Claudia, for being a Shining Star to our patients.”
