VNA & Blue Water Hospice leadership honors staff & volunteers quarterly through the ‘Shining Star’ program, recognizing the extras they do for each other, their patients, and the community.
Let’s get to know Therese!
Therese is a registered nurse in the Home Health division of VNA & Blue Water Hospice. She started with the agency in March 2024.
What are some of the responsibilities of your position?
“I assess patients in their homes, perform wound and post-operative care, reconcile medications, coordinate care with a patient’s doctor and other disciplines, and lots of patient education!”
What do you like best about VNA & BWH?
“I love the people I work with, and the management is wonderful. I have felt very welcome in the environment of VNA since day one. I love seeing patients in their own environment where they are most comfortable.”
Why did you choose this type of work?
“I have been a nurse since 2006. I worked in a hospital until I started with VNA. I’ve always wanted to try home care, and I’m so happy I did! I love helping people in the same way I have for years, but in an outpatient setting, where things are flexible, and I get to spend more time with each patient and build a good rapport with them.”
Aubrey recognized Therese as a Shining Star!
“Theres has been a wonderful addition to the home care team. Since joining the agency earlier this year, Therese has been eager to learn and help in any way she can. She has stepped up during the absence of one of our care managers, and has taken on many of their patients to ensure continuity of care to our patients. She has helped by seeing patients on Saturdays – doing whatever is needed. Therese has a positive outlook and is always professional and kind. Her dedication to our patients, her co-workers, and the agency has made her an obvious choice for the shining star award. Thank you, Therese, for all you do! You are greatly appreciated.”
