VNA & Blue Water Hospice is excited to announce the Room Renovation Project at the Blue Water Hospice Home. Work begins January 18 and is expected to take 4-6 weeks; however, it may run longer depending on patient room availability.
The Hospice Home will remain open during the renovations. Like any 24/7 operation, a lot of logistical planning has been completed as not to disrupt patient care. One to two patient rooms will be unavailable at a time during the project. Staff has planned to keep occupied rooms as far away from the rooms being worked on at that time as capacity allows.
Updates to the Hospice Home include new flooring, painting, beds, televisions, restrooms and electrical in each patient room. Visitors will also notice fresh paint in common areas as well. It is expected to take two to three days to complete flooring in each room. Painting and other upgrades will take an additional two to three days as well.
Staff and volunteers are getting excited for the improvements as supplies arrive. More than 140 boxes of flooring arrived at the Hospice Home this week to acclimate to temperature. And more than 20 gallons of paint will be used to refresh the space! “Our staff provided input on color and themes for each room,” says Angela DeLaere, President & CEO of VNA & Blue Water Hospice. “The themes are focused on the uniqueness of not only the Blue Water Area but also the wonderful Great Lakes, while keeping in mind the necessity of soft tranquility for our patients.”
As a result of our partnership with the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, we were able to secure the additional funding needed to complete the Room Renovation Project. We will be utilizing local resources such as RESA and Watson Brothers, among others. We thank all our local partners for their continued support of VNA and Blue Water Hospice.
