VNA & Blue Water Hospice leadership honors staff quarterly through the ‘Shining Star’ program, recognizing the extras they do for each other, their patients, and the community.
While working in a long-term care facility, Jackie regularly worked with hospice nurses. She noticed how the nurses cared for patients during their transition into hospice care; comforting both patient and family. She found it to be a peaceful job. After experiencing loss of her own, knowing she could help others, she sought out a position within hospice care. Jackie said, “to me, this isn’t a job – it’s my mission to help others.”
Jackie works in patient care, assessing needs of pain control and overall comfort. She gets to know her patients and their families – calming their anxieties and keeping them updated on the plan of care. “I am encouraged knowing that I can make their transition as peaceful as possible.”
Waneta recognized Jackie as a Shining Star!
“Jackie recently worked all weekend on nights, taking special care of her patients. She even mentioned how thankful she was to work this particular weekend with these patients. Her dedication is amazingly heartfelt.
