VNA & Blue Water Hospice leadership honors staff quarterly through the ‘Shining Star’ program, recognizing the extras they do for each other, their patients, and the community.
Judy has worked in healthcare for 35 years, in facilities both large and small. She prefers working in smaller, more close-knit organizations. “Our staff is small, but we make a wonderful team,” she says. “Staff and patients become your family. I love all of my patients. When they pass, I always walk out with them…saying my final goodbyes.”
She is amazed more people don’t know about the Blue Water Hospice Home. She refers to it as a ‘one-of-a-kind place’. She says, “on top of the facility and grounds being absolutely beautiful, we do the ‘extras’ for our patients. We honor veterans who stay with us – from the Quilts of Valor presentations to their final day. When a veteran passes the staff line the hall as they exit…a flag draped over them…it’s an honor. We’ve also hosted a wedding and luau party. We want our patients to know exactly how special they are to us.”
Judy believes it’s a privilege and an honor to do this type of work. “In life, we are guaranteed two things – we are born and we will die. Every person’s entrance and exit are unique. I am honored to help during their last days.”
Waneta recognized Judy as a Shining Star!
“We are blessed to have Judy on our team. On her weekend off, she volunteered to work extra to cover staff and assist with a special patient.”
