VNA & Blue Water Hospice leadership honors staff and volunteers quarterly through the ‘Shining Star’ program, recognizing the extras they do for each other, their patients, and the community.
Let’s get to know Rachel!
What do you do at VNA & BWH?
Working in HR, I recruit, contact applicants, lead orientation for new staff…and other on-boarding Human Resources functions.
What do you like best about your position at VNA & BWH?
I love the people and the environment. I enjoy coming into work each day. These people around me are not just co-workers, they are my friends.
I started at VNA in a different position, and they had the confidence in me to keep giving me more responsibilities. I love that this is a positive learning environment – perfect for me as I work toward my master’s degree. I’m learning a lot here at VNA – such a bonus to my education. I have been given the latitude to implement some of the things I’ve learned in class too!
Why did you choose this type of work?
I initially studied kinesiology for my undergrad. I am passionate about patient care, but I’ve found I really like what I’ve been doing with HR and has been a great fit for me. Now, I’m making a difference…in a different way!
Greg recognized Rachel as a Shining Star!
“Rachel is a great addition to our HR team. She is a new graduate from Central and working toward her master’s degree. For what is really her first professional position, Rachel has been an absolute pleasure to have on board. She is professional, has great follow through and organizational skills, great interpersonal skills, and has a vibrant and friendly personality.”
“It is rare to find someone with Rachel’s all-around skills. She has been an instant constructive addition and it is my hope that she has a long career with VNA. Wherever she finds herself throughout her career, I have no doubt that she will be highly successful and maintain excellent professional relationships.”
