Port Huron, MI – Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) & Blue Water Hospice introduced Light Up a Life as a way for the community to remember and honor loved ones. “Our Light Up a Life campaign came about as a special way for family and friends of current or former patients to pay tribute to them while giving back,” says Heidi Benner, VNA & Blue Water Hospice Volunteer Coordinator. “Over the years, it’s grown to not only honor patients, but also the staff and volunteers who provided care and comfort,” says Benner.
Light Up a Life is an annual campaign running now through the end of December. A donation is represented by a light on the Tree of Remembrance. Each shining light symbolizes the life, hope, and dreams of loved ones who have passed as well as those who cared for them.
Donations to VNA & Blue Water Hospice provide funding for the community’s health care needs through both charity care and room & board at the Blue Water Hospice Home as needed, ensuring that all patients receive safe and quality care, regardless of their financial position.

All are welcome to view and enjoy the twinkling Tree of Remembrance in the Tom Lock Memorial Observatory located on the grounds of the Blue Water Hospice Home, 2795 Edison Drive, Marysville. The tree is lit 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily, December 1-31.
‘Tis the season to count our blessings and remember those who have touched our lives.
